A LONGITUDINAL STUDY OF A SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TEAM: AN AGILITY PERSPECTIVE

This manuscript examines a software developmentrnteam in a division of a large software firm over arnseven year period. Following a discussion on agilityrnwe propose a framework for the investigation, analysis,rnand examination of a product-based team. Wernthen use this framework to discuss the software developmentrnteam as the firm progressed from a startup,rnto being purchased by a large hardware developer,rnand its purchase by a software developmentrnfirm. In parallel with this progression over time werndiscuss how the software team evolved from an agilityrnperspective. We conclude with some observationsrnabout the IT industry’s movement from softwarernquality-centered to a customer-centered focus.
