Throughout the engineering process an interdependentrnorganisational and informational structure developsrnbetween the involved trades and companies.rnThese complex content and time dependencies arernreflected in the project’s objects and documents,rnwhose contents are highly redundant. Therefore thernbasis of efficient engineering is the information flowrnacross the entire engineering process and furthermorernat the following phases of the lifecycle of arnplant. This paper shall not deal with the developmentrnof therefore necessary data models resp. object structures,rnwhich enables an automated and thus efficientrndata exchange. In fact a concept will be introduced,rnhow an optimimal information management includingrndata exchange could look from the view of anrnengineer, i.e. how objects, object states and functionsrncan be displayed and used optimal at an object manager.rnA serious weak point of the current informationrnmangement is the distribution of objects and of thernnot adequate functionality on many tools. Thus arnconsistent information management is impossible.rnTherefore the fundamental idea is the centralisationrnof all objects of an engineer into one object manager.rnThe editors for object processing are seamlessly affiliated.rnIn this „Engineering portal“ engineers havernfreedom of object presentation and structuring. Thusrnit is possible to create task specific views as well asrnto consider personal preferences.
