摘要

To study the seismic mechanism and find;out the effective aseismic strengthen methods of ancient Chinese timber structure, under the same conditions, a vibrating table experiment is carried out. The model is a central bay (whose mortise-tenon joints have been strengthened) with a scale of 1:3. 52 of prototype structure of ancient Chinese palace. Time-history responses of accelerations velocities and displacements of the model are measured; the frequency and the damping ratio of the model structure are also obtained. The results show that the aseismatic mechanism of ancient Chinese timber structure lies in two facts: (1) the slide and vibration isolation of the columns feet. (2) An amount of seismic energy is dissipated due to the elasto-plastic deformation of tou-kungs and the friction slide between the contact faces of two components; it plays a very important role in reducing seismic destruction of ancient Chinese timber structure.
