An investigation on seismic behavior of Large-scale thermal plants main structure made of RC was conducted. The structure were design for similar requirements in accordance with GBJ11-89, and their 1 : 7 scaled models were subjected to pseudo-dynamic tests. Experimental observed and numerical analyses show the structure' exhibited a rather uniformly distributed cracking pattern. The severe damage at the fifty story is attributable to the abrupt reduction of the column cross section size and abnormal joints effects. Plastic hinges appeared to also occur in several columns, and this may be attributed to the" strong beam and soft column". The soft stories lie in the upper of the structure, finally the structure turned into column side way system. The prototype under the 0. 05g the earthquake acceleration didn't cracking, and bearing the 0. 3g acceleration didn't collapse. Some recommendations for further improvement of the design of R. C. frame-bent structures are given.
