Application of heat transfer measurement using TLC in gun wind tunnel

Research on vehicle models' heat transfer measurement has been carried out in gun wind tunnel for many years. It can provide important data for thermal protection research. Measurement using TLC in gun wind tunnel is a new method for heat transfer measuring compared with the conventional platinum sensor measurement. This technique can both display area information of the whole temperature field and offer quantitative results. We began such studies in 1995, and had made some achievements on qualitative display and quantitative measurement. In this paper some experimental results would be discussed.
