In this paper, some kinds of flame retardants' influence to the thermal degradation and the fire performances of PVC have been studied by the means of TG, DTG method and the cone calorimeter. For the decomposition of samples, the second stage plays a key role in the pyrolysis attribute to flame retardance. Some of them lead to a lower decomposition temperature and a higher char yield. And some lead to the highering of apparent activation energy and decomposition temperature. Compared with other retardants with similar mechanics, hydrated zinc borate and chlorcosane performed the best availability respectively. Results of the cone calorimeter show that under the same test condition, PVC with the halogen-stibium co-operating fire retardant has the lowest heat release rate (HRR).
