PRACTICAL OPTIONS TO TEMPORARILY EXTEND THE LIFE OF DAMAGED PRESSURE PARTS OF INDUSTRIAL BOILERS

Boilers suffer various degrees of damage in service, whether through mal-operation degradation or accident. Operational requirements often necessitate non-conventional repairs to extend the life of various pressure components for limited time periods. This paper reviews some of the most common problems encountered in lower output industrial boilers together with solutions proposed to keep units in service until a more permanent solution becomes feasible.
