After the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on April 26 1986 the interest to the fate of radionuclides in the environment has been greatly increased, One of the most important pathways with respect to the uptake of radionuclides into food chaine is soil to plant transfer. The soil solution is a medium from which roots of plants absorb not only water and nutrients but also radionuclides and other harmful compounds getting into the soil. Their migration into other kinds of natiral waters (surface, ground, underground) also depends on from content of radioactive products in soil solution.This investigation focusses on the aspects of distribution of radiocaesium and radiostrontiutn in system "solid phase - solution" of different soil-vegetable covers of the Republic of Belarus after Chernobyl accident. Investigation were held with soil samples taking in control sites within the landscape-geochemical polygons which situated at the south and south-east regions of the Republic at the distance 10-200 km from CNPP. The composition and structure of soil and plant cover, water regime, climatic peculiarities and also the character of radioactive contamination of sampling sites are typical of the suffered regions of Belarus.
