ALL SOLID STATE HIGH POWER LASERS FOR MATERIALS PROCESSING

摘要

The appearance of reliable laser diodes have revolutionized the technology of high power solid state lasers in several ways. Diodes are used as a pump source instead of lamps in rod type solid state lasers, which have already entered the industrial market. Beyond that, new diode pumped solid state lasers as disc or fibre lasers have appeared, which do not have a conventional, i.e. lamp pumped counterpart. Furthermore, diode laser technology itself has developed to such a high power and quality, that even they can be used as a laser for materials processing in a direct way.
