Identification of slope instability hazard areas in the Anchieta-Imigrantes Highway System, located in the Serra do Mar mountain range, Sao Paulo state, Brazil

The paper presents an approach based on two main research lines: the landslides susceptibility mapping with GIS technology and the engineering geology classification of the weathering profiles. Two main kinds of gravitational mass movement processes were considered: shallow landslides and large debris slides. The final landslide susceptibility and hazard map identified 29 slope sectors adjacent to the Anchieta-Imigrantes Highway System prone to triggering the large debris slides.
