Large-scale quantitative landslide risk mapping at Favela da Formiga, Rio de Janeiro

摘要

This paper describes the quantitative risk assessment for two sectors of Formiga Slum Settlement, Rio de Janeiro. Reliable land use and landslide information with good understanding of their distribution and causes, integrated in a GIS-database, facilitated the implementation of a new approach for quantitative risk assessment. The results obtained in this case study proved that it can be an interesting solution to the problem of differentiation between the risk associated within slum settlements sectors and determining the best decision option for risk mitigation at these sites.
