Exploring Compuetrzied Support for Group Argumentation for Idea Generation

Group argumentation, especially held in most expert meetings, is regarded as a basic and convenient way to collect opinion and acquire knowledge from experts for new alternatives or solutions towards complex problems solving. Creative ideas are expected to be generated by active interaction and stimulation during group brainstorming or debate. Then, group argumentation could be served as one of effective working steps during knowledge creation process. In this paper, we focus on exploring effective computerized support for group argumentation, mainly on group brainstorming for idea generation. A relevant computerized support tool, group argumentation environment (GAE) has been developed. Some salient functions of GAE including visualization of expert opinion structure during argumentation process and various analysis about people participation are discussed together with demonstration of an example.
