A provincial scientific foundation management system is developed, by applying the multidimensional analysis technology to scientific foundation management. We discuss the advantages of using a multidimensional data model in supporting Online Analysis Processes (OLAP). This model is further implemented by using the relational database technology. In response to user requirements, the foundation management system is capable of stepwisely developing a conceptual model, a "star-polygon" model, and a physical model by extracting real-world data. Applicable case studies show that the developed multidimensional data model has played an important role in supporting the decision analysis in foundation management process.
