Fundamental understanding of the bonding behavior of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) laminates such as bond strength, and effective bonding length is of prime importance for the development of design guidelines and codes for concrete structures strengthened with prestressed FRP reinforcement. However, the long-term serviceability of such FRP-strengthened structures is still a concern due to lack of long-term performance data and also the suitable model which can represent these performances. This study aims to present a new viscoelastic model describing the time-dependent behavior of the adhesive bonding FRP sheets to concrete. The proposed model is an important modification and extension of the generalized Maxwell constitutive model. The model has been calibrated a-gainst the results from a Two-dimensional FE analysis presented by the 1990 European CEB - FIP code. The relaxation function is then appropriately used to obtain time-dependent effective bond length of FRP sheets.
