On the basis of different principles and criteria, the classification of prestressed steel structures is generalized and improved in this paper, and then several typical projects concerning the practical applications of prestressed steel structure are briefly introduced herein, which the authors have experienced. According to the authors' theoretical study and project practice in recent years, key technologies of construction for prestressed steel structures are summarized (including cable system selection, cable fabrication and installation, cable tension and adjustment). Finally, the preliminary theory of VT technology (virtual tension), a new technology applied to cable tensile construction, is presented.
