The biography on the life and career of Professor Norio Sato was written on the occasion of a special symposium at the 1999 Joint International Meeting of the Electrochemical Society, Inc. and the Electrochemical Society of Japan. The symposium, entitled "Passivity and Localized Corrosion - A symposium in Honor of Professor Norio Sato", was held in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 17-22, 1999.
