Lightning current distribution inside of a directly hit building is calculated by an electromagnetic model with the help of Numerical Electromagnetic Code (NEC-4). Portions of lightning current into wirings protected by SPD are evaluated. Representative values of the portions are determined in the frequency domain. The portions into wirings on the top floors or on the first floors are largest irrespective of height of the building. Those into wirings on the middle floors are negligibly small. This result is useful in determining energy ratings of SPD.
