All of wind load, ice shedding, electrodynamic force, etc will cause asynchronous vibration of different phase conductors and reduction of interphase clearance. The interphase clearance of compact transmission lines is much shorter than regular lines, so the compact lines have more severe problems than regular lines in adverse conditions. To synchronize the vibration of different phase conductors and avoid the breakdown of interphase clearance, interphase spacer should be installed, which is the key technology for the compact line. In this paper, a computational model of spacer is introduced to calculate the exact stressed state of the spacer. Motion simulation is adopted to verify the alternative spacer solution.Finally A complete design solution of the interphase spacer for the 500kV compact line is presented.
