摘要

The purpose of this work is to develop design procedures for airing by single-sided natural ventilation in terms of ventilation characteristics. In order to assess the ventilation performance the results of an experimental analysis are analyzed. It shows that short-time airing is an effective ventilation strategy, that during the first ten minutes after the opening of the window results in high ventilation efficiency and high air change rates. The change in the air flow rate as a function of time closely follows the decrease in the temperature difference. The analytical model for single-sided ventilation predicts the velocity profile and air flow rates quite accurately, even if the discharge coefficient shows some dependence on the size of the opening area.
