This study is to examine the influence of the degree of weathering on the breakthrough curve of a copper contaminant plume when passing through decomposed granite soil. The copper concentration is measured in real time in soils by means of a fibre-optic sensor buried in the soil, operating in reflective- mode with yellow light, and the resulting breakthrough curve is compared with FEM analysis using the advection-dispersion equation. From the result, it is shown that the curve of severely weathered sample is characterized by the parameters such as R_d, α_L and D_L, which is dependent on the degree of weathering.
