To Inaugurate a New Phase of Comprehensive Utilization of Solid Wastes of Iron and Steel Industry

The paper conducts that the Chinese government regards comprehensive utilization of solid wastes as a long-range strategic policy of economy and society development in PRC. Resource comprehensive utilization is an important part of implementing resource continual utilization and guaranteeing nation economy healthy development as well as an important aspect of preventing pollution and protecting environment and an important measure of strengthening corporations' rivalship. Annual output of solid wastes of iron and steel industry in PRC is 200 million tons with comprehensive utilization rate 40.7%. The paper conducts major comprehensive utilization approaches and late research achievements and declares to popularize the modern solid wastes treatment technics equipments and utilization technology with advanced work level and independent intellectual and property rights in the "Tenth Five Year Plan" period. It suggests major efforts should be henceforth devoted to spread and apply the following comprehensive utilization techniques: spreading water cooling treatment technics in front of blast furnace and cycling wheel fast cooling treatment technics of blast furnace slag instead of pool marinating slag technics, spreading self-milling and magnetic selecting treatment technics of recycling steel from dated slag hillock instead of steel slag crashing-filtering-magnetic selecting technics and wet milling-magnetic selecting technics; spreading redressing tailings to recover iron concentrate and intermediate product technics and replacing iron powder and clay with tailings to make cement clinker technics; using granulated blast furnace slag powder as cement and concrete additives; using iron containing dust mud as sintering mix for iron smelting; using fly ash as cement mix and concrete additives as well as new type building materials and products. Main tasks ahead for comprehensive utilization of solid wastes in iron and steel industry are as follows: gradually expanding industrialization scale as well as improving technical level of high-valued comprehensive utilization and comprehensive utilization rate.
