Liquid Reduction of Iron Ore with Coal -- A New Iron-making Process Which Can Thoroughly Eliminate Environmental Pollution

This article introduced the process of Russia's liquid reduction-ROMELT and illuminated its main feature and present situation. The new process has got rid of all the sub-process from mineraldressing to blast furnace. By adding raw iron ore and raw coal into the liquid reducing furnace directly after they are crushed into less than 20mm in diameter, we can get pig iron for steel-making, slag products and electricity. This process helps to cut down the energy consumption, increase the recovery of metal and improve environmental protection. It is predicted that this iron-making process will replace the process of blaast furnace in the later half of the 21st century.
