Long-term measurements to determine the deformation behaviour of unstable mountainsides either in low mountain ranges or in alpine areas have rarely been taken. The investigations of the kinematics of the reservoir bank instabilities (e.g. Gepatsch reservoir/Tyrol, Durlassboden reservoir/Salzburg) must be stressed especially in this context. With regard to the long-time behaviour of mostly deep-reaching creeping and sliding processes on infrastructures and settlements the creeping regions in the area of Buendner Schist should be mentioned. Particularly the assessment of the controlling factors concerning deep-reaching and large-scale instable mountainsides (e.g. sagging of mountain slopes) has been proved to be difficult. In very rare cases it could be clarified, which of the controlling factors (e.g. slope water level, annual precipitation, snow melt processes) are important for the temporal variation of the creeping-sliding process. The complex correlations will be shown and discussed by various alpine large-scale slope movements.
