Demonstration or Implementation of Integrated Biotechnological Approach for bioremediation of manganese mine spoil dumps has led to the development of supportive and nutritive rhizosphere in barren mine spoil through appropriate blending of mine spoil with organic amendments like pressmud/ FYM, inoculation of plants with specialized cultures of nitrogen fixing microorganisms and strains of mycorrhizal fungi for profuse root development and contributing to stress tolerance in plants. Demonstration of IBA has turned barren mine spoil into lush green forest and contributed to various environmental benefits viz. oxygen production, soil conservation, development of top soil and provides carbondioxide sinks. The demonstration of technology has opened an avenue to implement the technology for different mining sectors and also for different types of wastelands.
