Based on the analysis of the influence of the reflected wave, the calculating area for studying the dynamic responses of roadbed and natural soil layer under shock load is determined. Then three-dimensional elastic-plastic dynamic responses of settlement and stress are simulated numerically. Some valuable conclusions have been drawn: the reflected wave's influence on settlement is very obvious and is relatively low on vertical stress; both the settlement and vertical stress for roadbed and the natural soil layer follow the same trend; the occurrence of maximum settlements lags behind the applied shock load, but the occurrence of the maximum vertical stress keeps synchronized with the applied shock load and both settlement and vertical stress occurred at the center of loading area.
