A Sol-Gel based coating technology has been developed for making multilayer ceramic coatings. The coatings are SiO_2 and SiO_2-ZnO composites made by dispersing ZnO powders in Sol-Gel solution. SiO_2 SiO_2-ZnO multilayer stacks was alternately coated on glass soda-lime substrates. Investigations of the structure and coating analysis were carried out and durability of coatings in different environment were evaluated. Reflected spectrums from surface coatings were prepared and optical behavior of layers has been studied. The results indicated that Sol-Gel process can be used to produce completely stable ceramic multilayer coatings. Analysis of reflected spectrums also indicated that with an increase in the numbers of alternate layers of SiO_2 and the percentage of reflected beams in VIS region reduced considerably.
