A new type of a composite cement of silicate clinker and phosphoaluminate clinker were prepared. The effects of gypsum amount on the compressive strength and hydration process of composite cement were studied. The exothermic rate and exothermic capacity of the hydration process of the composite cement were also researched. The results showed that the gypsum amount could change the hydration process of the composite cement, which had important influence on strength development of the cement. The influential order of mass fraction of gypsum on exothermic rate was 2.8% > 3.2% > 2.5% and on accumulated exothermic capacity in 4 days was 3.2% > 2.8% > 2.5%. The accumulated exothermic capacity of hydration of the composite cement was much lower than that of ordinary silicate cement.
