Under different content and fineness of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), slag cements were prepared to investigate the relationship between shrinkage and components of hardened pastes at w/c 0.33. The results show that the shrinkage of both cement paste and mortar with GGBS could be effectively restrained compared with Portland cement in most cases, except the use of GGBS with fineness of 605m~2/kg. In the blast furnace slag cements, shrinkage of pastes linearly increases with the non-evaporable water content. Porosity and volume fraction of large pore in the cement pastes are decreased and volume fraction of small pores is well correlated with drying shrinkage.
