摘要

The feasibility of Eddy Current Testing (ECT) technique for the non-destructive evaluation of cellular metallic material is investigated in this paper. Inspection of the welding joints connecting the surface and inner layers of a typical cellular material - metallic sandwich plate is focused. Through numerical simulation and experiments, it is found that the defects in the welding zone result in ECT signals of significant different phase property with those from welding bead. By using multi-frequency technique, consequently, detection of cracks in the welding zone of a sandwich metal plate is possible. In addition, sizing of cracks in welding zone is also carried out by means of signal processing and inverse analysis.
