摘要

An original method for quantitative analysis of earthquake resistance of existing buildings including those damaged by an earthquake as well as buildings in process of design is discussed. The analysis is based on standard requirements and existing industry rules for seismic design. As many as 25 factors that influence seismic resistance of buildings are brought into account. Each of these factors is analyzed numerically and their gradation system established. An analysis is performed based on the data available and a value of seismic resistance of the building is computed and expressed quantitatively. Parts of the unit gradation allows for the tables to be used in order to determine "weak points" of the building and assist in its improvement during the design stage and also to enhance seismic resistance of existing buildings including those damaged by an earthquake. A comparative analysis was performed as well.
