The first toll road in Indonesia was opened to traffic in 1978. There have been few studiesrnundertaken on toll elasticities of travel demand on the toll roads in Indonesia. This report presentsrnthe results of the toll elasticity study on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, one of the busiest toll roadsrnin Indonesia which has several experiences with toll changes. Elasticities were measured overrndifferent periods, for different levels of travel distance with the arc elasticity and shrinkage ratiornmethod. The mean values of the overall toll-elasticities using the arc elasticity method for passengerrncars (class 1) range from -0.28 ± 0.24 (1 month analysis) to -0.43 ± 0.24 (4 months analysis) andrnfor commercial vehicles (class 2) range from -0.25 ± 0.20 to -0.40 ± 0.19. By using the shrinkagernratio, the results are range from -0.22 ± 0.18 to -0.32 ± 0.19 for class 1 and from -0.22 ± 0.18 torn-0.26 ± 0.14 for class 2. Another important finding is that the medium-distance toll elasticities arernsignificantly more inelastic than other short-distance (under 20 km.) and long-distance (over 40rnkm.) toll elasticities.
