A Novel Recovery and Recycle Process for Catalytic Molybdate in Acidic Peroxide Delignification

In this paper, a novel recovery and recycle process for the molybdate catalyst in acidic peroxide delignification is introduced. The new process is based on an organoclay as adsorbent. Results of studies on the pH dependence of the delignification efficacy, the recovery rate for molybdate from the pulp slurry, and the adsorption rate of molybdate to the adsorbent for both a Pmo and a (DPmo) stage are presented. Maximum adsorption capacity and filter cake resistance of the organoclay were determined as well. Both ecological and economic aspects of the novel recovery and recycle process are also elaborated. The process is currently being further developed to an industrial scale in collaboration with industry partners. The revelation of the current project status is subject to confidentiality restrictions.
