The precision of output voltage regulation point greatly benefits from the trimmability of error amplifier references: in fact, it is no longer necessary to put several resistors in parallel and trim them (cutting their connections) to centre the voltage in the required range; this operation can be done automatically via software through the trimming process leading to a mean time saving estimated in about 20s per unit. Moreover the possibility to set the operating mode choosing between latched or bouncing mode greatly increases the system flexibility. It is possible to achieve both operating modes with only one design release, by simply changing the IC's internal settings. At the end of the manufacturing line, final tests are implemented to guarantee the proper power supply behaviour: The equipment performing this process is driven by software able to simulate all the operating condition, fault included. Simply adding few lines of code it is possible to introduce also the trimming of the IC during the final test operation.
