Ozone-added activated sludge process is one of the modified processesrnfor reduction of excess sludge production. However, nutrients(N, P) inrnactivated sludge are also dissolved by ozonation in this process, andrntheir concentrations become higher as a result. In this study,rnnitrification-denitrification process was investigated for nitrogenrnremoval in ozone-added activated sludge process. It was shown thatrnorganic materials from solubilized activated sludge could be used asrnelectron donors for biological denitrification, and nitrogen removalrnefficiency was higher in the ozone-added activated sludge process thanrna conventional activated sludge process in the case that carbonnitrogen(rnC/N) ratio was lower in the influent. It is verified that ozoneaddedrnactivated sludge process is also applicable for nitrogen removal.
