摘要

A computational fluid dynamics study of bonding of two bi-component fibres by the through-air bonding is reported in the article. The computational model employs a two-phase volume of fluid model to track the flow of molten polymer. The time required for the formation of bond between fibres at different angle of contact is investigated. The computational results show that the bonding rate is faster at higher angle of contact.
