Similarities between joining and crack healing in ceramics

We propose a starting point from which to develop a model of the ceramic/ceramic joining rate, based on crack healing models. We first review experimental results from the crack healing literature. Next, we briefly discuss two crack healing models from the literature. Finally, we discuss connections among the crack healing observations, the crack healing models, and ceramic/ceramic joining.
