A new welding process using microwaves to heat up PVDF-pipes is presented. The main part of the welding machine is a microwave applicator, which consists of a non-radiating antenna system. High electrical field strength which occurs near the antennas is used to melt the joining zones of the pipes. When these zones are molten the pipes are butt-welded.
