METSO PAPER'S NEW TMP/ CTMP PULPING LINE AT THE MECHANICAL PULPING TECHNOLOGY CENTER ANJALANKOSKI, FINLAND

Metso Paper Oyj has build a new TMP/CTMP (Thermo-/ Cheinithermomechanical) pulping line at the Mechanical Pulping Technology Center in Anjalankoski. Finland. The inauguration of the new TMP/CTMP line took place on March 2003 and line was succesfully started up. The line augments technology center's other mechanical pulping processes, including PGW (Pressure Groundwood) pulping. Screening and Bleaching, as well as Reject Handling. The state-of-the-art pulping line is world's largest pilot TMP/ CTMP line and it include a two-stage pressurized main line refining with an average daily pulping capacity of 25 tons. The production is compatible with Metso Paper's pilot Paper and Board machines in Inkeroinen and Rautpohja. Finland. Additionally, the TMP/CTMP is integrated with the Recycled Fiber and Stock Preparation pilot processes. The Mechanical Pulping Technology Center in Anjalankoski has capabilities to simulate the pulping processes of all commercially viable mechanical pulps. The pilot equipment is used for customer trials, pulp preparation for company's own pilot paper machines, and for mechanical pulping equipment product development The processes and capabilities of the Mechanical Pulping Technology Center, with a special reference to the new TMP / CTMP pulping line, are described.
