Introduction of an efficient, low cost, small size, 3 MPa pressure electrolyser in the MW power range for the on site hydrogen production at H_2 filling stations, for the production of hydrogen for synthetic fuels and for the macro storage of mainly renewable electric energies. The innovative technical concept of the PME electrolyser will allow fast load variations within 10% up to 120% of nominal load. Low cost is achieved by integrating all the pressure carrying functional components into one single pressure vessel (Pressure Module Electrolyser concept, PME). Auxiliary units like lye pump and possibly the water feed pump are made obsolete thus improving the efficiency. The active cell area of 0,8 m~2 respectively 2,5 m~2 and the pressure of 3 MPa (allowing high current densities) enable specifically small plant sizes (foot print). Separate lye streams improve gas purity an operational safety. The PME is suited for stand alone applications.
