Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most frequent primary solid tumor of liver. The purpose of this study is to find the key genes and their molecular mechanisms of hepatocarcinogenesis. The hepatoma model was made in SD male rats given foods containing 0.05% of 2-fluorenylacetamide (2-FAA), resected the livers at different stages, abstracted the total RNAs from the tissues, and the aberrant gene expression was analyzed by Affymetrix Rat 230A GeneChip. Increase and (or) decrease of gene expression can be found during the experiment courses. Significant alterations in gene expressions occurred in biological networks, activation of oncogenes, proliferation–related genes, and genes involved in cell-cell communications.The gene expression of HCC development is complexity, and many genes are unknown or have no relationships with hepatocyte malignant transformation as regards the present study. These findings are in agreement with the biology function, thereby indicating that multiple genetic events are associated with hepatocarcinogenesis.
