摘要

This paper introduced a highly integrated constant output current power supply implemented with a DC/DC converter.Compared with traditional linear control method, this solution has many advantages:higher efficiency,higher integration,smaller PCB size and lower cost. The transition between current regulation mode and voltage regulation mode can be realized automatically.It’s suitable for the applications which load will vary in a big range,such as:electrolysis power supply,charger,etc.For traditional linear control method, the voltage difference between input and output is applied on the transistor directly.So there is a limitation on the maximum voltage difference. The efficiency will be very low if there is a big voltage difference between the input and output. This paper introduces a switch mode constant output current solution based on TI’s TPS5401.It works at voltage regulation mode (VRM) if the load resistor (RLOAD) is larger than the threshold; it will enter current regulation mode (CRM) when the RLOAD is lower than the threshold.
