Software Requirement Engineering Process - An Umbrella Activity for Software Quality

Requirement Engineering is a process of creating requirement documents with the objective to establish a complete, consistent and unambiguous description of the future system. Software is used by end users or customers. However it is developed by software developers who are not the customers themselves. Good software is that, which fulfills the customer's requirements. Hence it is absolutely essential to get the exact requirements from the customer to attain the software quality. Normally the customers are not computer literate which causes difficulties in receiving of software requirements. Achieving software quality depends upon the extent to which Software Requirement Engineering process was successful in understanding the future system, as conceived by the customer.
