In this paper, we describe the " Tasty Street System" ; which is building prototypes of a context-aware application that provides town information about a specified area that reflects users' tastes. A lot of research is being done about context-aware application or location-aware applications. However, a breakthrough application which brings about a revolution in our lifestyle has yet to come into existence, because of poor context. This existing research uses only users' location as context. With only location data, it is hard to provide reliable service. But TastyStreet uses not only location data but other information to provide a more comprehensive service. TastyStreet stores users' movement log using a GPS locator-equipped cell-phone, and analyzes the move log to aquire a user's history of visited shops. Analyzing information, TastyStreet extracts more rich context, including users' preferred shops. We will describe the features of the existing TastyStreet, demonstrate system prototypes and discuss important research issues that has emerged in context-aware applications development in a mobile environment.
