A Mobile Agent-Based Location Management Scheme for Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

A Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of wireless nodes that can dynamically form a network without using any pre-existing communication infrastructure. The network is characterized by frequent and random topological changes. Tracking the location of mobile nodes is one of the challenges in ad-hoc networks. Location-management systems can provide accurate information about the location of users, networks or services, which is useful in pervasive computing. In this paper we propose a new mobility-management scheme that uses mobile agents to collect and maintain location information in MANETs.
