摘要

The research group of information visualization and knowledge retrieval project in the school of information management of Wuhan University has developed an information visualization and knowledge retrieval prototype system, named IVAKR, which has made a practicable exploration toward the field of Chinese information resource visualization. The system researched on visualization model of Chinese information resource (Chinese characters text and Chinese speech information) and image information. It adopted methods of icon, high-dimension space description, transformation from speech to text, and semantic relevancy. Moreover, the low-level features (such as color, shape and texture) can be extracted directly from images and presented by histograms. High-level features can be described by semantic metaphors, which is similar to dealing with text and speech according to concerned international criteria. The paper explored the visualization model methods as to image, text and audio information resources respectively.rnThe whole system was programmed by VC and Java, and gained success through visually dealing with 5000 information objects. The system specially discussed model approaches of information visualization and knowledge retrieval.
