A New Tracer Test Technique Based on Environmental Protection

摘要

In interwell tracer tests (IWTT), chemical tracers or radioisotope tracers are generally used in different oilfields. In this paper the merits and demerits of the chemical or radioisotope tracers have been reviewed. Based on the view point of environment protection, a new IWTT method, i. e. IWSTT was suggested. Due to more safe in operation and the negligible pollution of this method, IWSTT technique may fit the requirement of environment protection today and in future. Interwell tracer test (IWTT) has been developed as a prospective tool for determination of residual oil saturation and reservoir formation description during about thirty years last. The existing IWTT technique is based on the chromatography and chemical tracers (or radio-active isotope tracers). Today IWTT has been successfully conducted in the oilfields in different oil companies of different countries. Further development of IWTT will focus on developing the technique so as to be more economic and safe in use especially from the view of the environment protection, and developing more convenient evaluation methods of residual oil saturation and injection/production strategies for water flooding and tertiary recovery at any necessary time.
