Formation pressure, as a geologic or formation parameter, plays an important role in petroleum geologic exploration, drilling engineering and reservoir engineering. In drilling engineering, it is the key and foundation of accomplishing low- cost, high efficiency, near - balanced pressure drilling. According to decades of studies by forefathers, many practical methods have been developed: (1) Predicting formation pressure before drilling with seismic interval velocity data; (2) Monitoring abnormal pressure and formation pressure while drilling with drilling data; (3) Verifying formation pressure after drilling with logging data. However, every single method cannot make full use of actual information obtained from drilling procedure. This paper proposes a method to evaluate and calculate formation pressure by drilling information, which makes theories and methods to predict and monitor formation pressure more reasonable, more practical and more accurate.
