摘要

The procedure of traditional structural analysis and design usually consists of several individual programs and software that may be distributed among different computers or workstations. These programs are usually executed in sequence, and their inputs and outputs are more or less dependent. Moreover, the outdated systems or programs in business enterprises or engineering consultants are still in use because of their proven capabilities and user custom. Hence, integrating the classic programs and software scattered on different computers is an important issue. The objective of the work reported is to apply the concept of distributed computing to build a control and management interface for structural design and computing using the latest network technology. The emphasis is to solve the problems of data transfer, software management and execution control. The system development concept, system architecture and program interface are discussed in this paper. A short review of the technical details is presented as well.
