Phase equilibrium and kinetic crystal growth data were obtained for binary mixture of n-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (NVP) and 2-pyrrolidone for fractional separation using melt crystallizer. Eutectic solid-liquid equilibrium data were obtained using melting point measurement apparatus and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) at the temperature range of 253.15 to 298.15 K. For further development of melt crystallizer, kinetic data for crystal growth were also obtained using a jacketed melt crystallizer with single cooling bar. The overall heat transfer coefficients were calculated simplified heat transfer equation. The purities of crystals after melt crystallization and sweating process were measured by UV/V is spectrometer and gas chromatography.
