Progress achieved in the ARBRE BIGCC project and prospects for the future

摘要

This paper discusses progress the achieved in the Biomass Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle project ARBRE. The ARBRE process operates at close to atmospheric pressure with gas clean-up and gas compression between the gasifier and turbine. The ARBRE project is one of the most advanced in the world it was in the early stages of operation prior to its premature and hopefuly temporary closure. In the paper the design and development of the plant is described. The commissioning and operating experience is discussed and the lessons learned to date are reviewed. Key areas that require further development are identified and requirements for the future expansion of the biomass sector are considered.
